Dustin Bannister is the owner and lead audio engineer of Blue Creek Production, a ranch-style creative studio in Patton, Missouri. His interest in recording began
while performing as a lead guitarist in Nashville. After deciding to pursue audio engineering, he completed a program through a Los Angeles–based school and
later worked at Phat Buddha Productions in St. Louis, where he recorded with artists including Black Eyed Peas, Sade Adu, and Jaden Smith. He is a voting
member of the Recording Academy (Grammy Awards).
At Blue Creek, Bannister operates a hybrid analog/digital facility centered around a DDR QMR 48 console and Pro Tools HD. He handles recording, producing,
mixing, and mastering for independent artists, as well as sound for radio, digital distribution, film, and television. The studio has worked with regional musicians
across genres and provided sound design and Foley for projects including the feature film Float Trip. Blue Creek Production is an award-winning company,
including Album of the Year at the Josie Awards, and has two albums that reached the top 100 of the Grammys. In addition to studio work, Blue Creek
provides live sound for large festivals and touring bands. The company also offers video production and commercial media services.
Drawing on more than a decade of hands-on studio and live-sound experience, Bannister takes a practical, artist-focused approach. In this 10-session (20-hour)
course, he will cover the core aspects of audio engineering—from signal flow, microphone technique, and recording practices through editing, mixing, and
mastering—grounded in the realities of running a working studio and handling live events.
