Dakotah Mandina




Dakotah Mandina is a flutist, woodwind doubler, and teacher. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Truman State University and a Masters of Music in Multiple Woodwind Performance from Ball State University.


As a Graduate Assistant for the oboe and clarinet studio at Ball State University, Dakotah provided comprehensive educational support, including supplemental lessons and studio lectures on various topics. He also contributed to recruitment efforts, offered administrative assistance, and performed and coached chamber music. 


Dakotah's performance experience is varied, encompassing degree recitals on both flute and oboe, as well as participation in major university ensembles including symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, and chamber ensembles. He is proficient in woodwind doubling, playing in the pit for several notable Operas and Musicals including Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Old Maid and the Thief, Matilda, and Cabaret. Dakotah has also performed in masterclasses with flutists Adam Sadberry and Jennifer Nitchman, and oboist Trevor Mowry.


His performance achievements include being a winner of the Gold Medal Concerto Competition at Truman State University in 2022, after being a finalist in 2021, and receiving an Honorable Mention at the Missouri Music Teachers Association competition. Dakotah also researched "Extended Techniques in High School Flute Performance and Pedagogy" through the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program at Truman State. He has held leadership roles such as Drum Major for the Statesmen Marching Band, Coordinator for the Truman Flute Quartet, and Assistant Director for the Truman Woodwind Choir.
