Christy Barnes

Christy started studying piano in 1976 and began performing publicly in 1985. She married Jeffrey Barnes in 1987 and went to earn her Associates at MAC and Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at Southeast State University in 1990.

She has been active teaching private piano lessons at Marler’s Music Center since 2009 and has accompanied local music festivals and juries at Lindenwood University. Christy is always enthusiastic about helping others achieve musical excellence and believes everyone should never stop improving.

She is the mother of Grace and Hope Barnes, serves as pianist to First Baptist Church of Irondale and AWANA Ministry Director. She personally studies under Emily Parker at the Arcadia Music Academy in Ironton and will be teaching music K-8 Belleview School District for the 2021-2022 school year.

She spends her time practicing Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Twentieth Century piano, finishing log cabin construction, bookkeeping for Liberty Termite, caring for one very large tabby cat, the one-eyed wonder cat Stewart, Piper the dog and quilting.
